Why Do Compression Style Dock Seals Have Optional Wear Pleats?
June 21, 2017, 4:57 pm - Compression style dock seals work best with 4 to 5 inches of projection beyond the face of the dock bumper. With a truck in position, this provides 4 to 5 inches of compression creating an efficient seal. As the truck is being offloaded or loaded, the truck moves up and down causing abrasion on the seal. Optional wear pleats act as “shingles” on the dock seal. As the truck moves up and down, the wear surface is actually the wear pleat, not the direct face of the dock seal. This option is highly recommended as it prolongs the life of the dock seal.

Can You Get a Portable Lift Table?
June 9, 2017, 4:55 pm -
There are two ways to make a lift table portable. One is semi portable and the other is fully portable. To make a lift table semi portable, the table must consist of two wheels on one end and a removable dolly handle on the other end. To get a semi portable lift from point A to point B, the user of the table must take the dolly handle and place it into the dolly lift point. Once the user tilts the dolly handle towards them, the lift table will lift up, placing the wheels on the other end of the lift to touch the ground and be in use. The user can than move the table where ever they would like. The table must be moved without a load. A fully portable lift table is simply placed and welded onto a sub frame which consists of the frame itself and 4 wheels. It is not recommended to move a fully portable lift table with more than a 6000 lbs. load. Contact a Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.

The platform of this design rests right at floor level with a bevelled leading edge. A manual pump truck is all that is required to position or remove the pallet on this design of hydraulic lift table.

May 24, 2017, 4:50 pm -
Not all applications are the same. In some cases, vehicle restraints are a part of the initial construction design process. It is also quite common to add vehicle restraints to an existing loading dock to improve the safety at this busy area of the facility. The positioning of the trailer’s rear impact guard can vary from trailer manufacturers. This has created the requirements for low profile vehicle restraints. Some facilities are able to cost justify mechanical vehicle restraints as an improvement over manual wheel chocks. There are many models to pick from and each design has its unique features.
