A lift table’s standard and most common control unit is a push button control unit. The problem you may experience with a push button control unit is that in order to operate the lift table, the operator must use their hands to control the table. This can slow efficiency because if an operator is positioning a load and decides to raise or lower the table, he must first position the load before operating it. If he has a guarded foot pedal control station, the operator can simply lift the table ... Read More
A rotating brake is used to stop rotating tops from turning. There are 4 different types of rotating brakes. They are manually operated stops, spring activated detent stops, spring loaded rotator locks and a rotator brake. A manually operated stop is a metal shaft that locks the rotating platform in 90 degree increments. A spring activated detent stop is a spring-loaded ball transfer that automatically slips into position every 90 degrees to stop the rotation of the platform. A spring loaded rot... Read More
In lift table terms, low height refers to the measurement of the top of the table’s platform to the floor when the table is in its lowest position. Travel refers to the amount of vertical lift from the tables resting position to its highest position. Raised position is the measurement of the table’s platform to floor when the table is at its extended height. Contact a Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.... Read More
There are two ways to make a lift table portable. One is semi portable and the other is fully portable. To make a lift table semi portable, the table must consist of two wheels on one end and a removable dolly handle on the other end. To get a semi portable lift from point A to point B, the user of the table must take the dolly handle and place it into the dolly lift point. Once the user tilts the dolly handle towards them, the lift table will lift up, placing the wheels on the other end of the ... Read More
No low designed hydraulic lift tables do not require a pre formed pit or a lift truck to position the pallet on the lift table. The platform of this design rests right at floor level with a bevelled leading edge. A manual pump truck is all that is required to position or remove the pallet on this design of hydraulic lift table. This significantly lowers the cost of material handling equipment and also improves safety by keeping power driven equipment away from the work station. Contact a Pent... Read More
The purpose of a velocity fuse is to ensure safety to any operator using a hydraulic lift table, hydraulic dock lift, or a hydraulic dock leveler. The way it works is by regulating flow leaving the cylinder. If the velocity fuse senses any sort of flow that is too fast then the velocity fuse will close locking the oil in the cylinders stopping the lift from lowering. This ensures safety to the operator to minimize any risk of injury. Contact a Pentalift sales Representative for more informati... Read More
Hydraulic operated lift tables are the most common, however in some applications, air powered lift tables are the best solution. One of the most common applications is paint booths where a spark from an electric motor could cause an explosion. Another is a wash down application. A number of assembly applications have a readily available air supply to primarily operate hand tools, clamping fixtures etc. Instead of running a dedicated electrical supply to the lift table, it often can be cost ju... Pentalift accordion bellows are reinforced vinyl pleats that are designed to minimize debris entry under the lift table. This in turn decreases the opportunity for damage and premature wear, helping to reduce maintenance costs and prolonging the lifespan of the equipment. While not considered a safety feature, accordion bellows help to discourage entry beneath the scissor lift table by unauthorized personnel. Here is a link to much more detailed information on Pentalift’s accordion bello... Read More
A Semi-Portable Lift Table is designed to be moved only when there is no load present. The design incorporates a set of casters with a slight clearance from the floor on one end of the table, and then a tongue installed on a frame extension on the opposite end. A removable dolly handle is used in combination with the steel tongue to engage the casters and move the table.   A Portable Lift Table is designed to be moved when fully loaded. Portability packages include a structural su... Read More
Pre-engineered lift tables are typically designed and built for intermittent use. Pentalift considers standard use to be up to 8 full loaded, complete cycles per hour. If the equipment will be exposed to greater than 8 cycles per hour, then we need to look at making upgrades to the table and the power unit. Pentalift offers a high cycle package that includes upgrades to spherical bearings in place of pins and cam followers in place of the standard rollers, along with upgrades to the cylinder ...
