Keeping the warm air out of the Loading Dock area was the major factor in selecting Pentalift Vertical Storing Dock Levelers for their new expansion. The warmer outside air causes major problems in a cold storage environment. By vertically mounting the Dock Leveler inside the building the insulated dock doors are protected against accidental impact and can be closed against the dock pit floor providing a superior seal. When the Dock Leveler is in use a bottom pad closes off the open area underneath the Dock Leveler reducing the air infiltration into the building (see bottom right picture). When warm and cold air mix, condensation is created which causes a major safety issue for the dock attendants. In addition the moist air requires more defrost cycles from the refrigeration system which costs the Company additional money.

This Dock Leveler design is a major improvement in controlling the environment and improving safety at the loading dock.
