A well-recognized manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles and recreational vehicles began a research for custom built dual direction tilt platforms. The Research and Development department of this company working with their Engineering Department was sourcing a tilter to be used in the testing stages of a prototype RV. After completing a review of products available they contacted Pentalift’s sales department and discussed the specifics of their application. They required a custom piece of materials handling equipment that would lift, tilt forward and tilt sideways a recreational vehicle to test for fuel pick up, suspension loading, frame stress and drive train lubrication. A concept drawing and budget price was first presented to the customer for financial justification and a functionality review by the R&D and Engineering Department. The merits of the design were approved and quickly Pentalift finalized the quotation, supplied Approval Drawings and once approved the unit went into production. The platform size is 8′ wide x 12′ long, tilts up to 60 degrees left to right and front to back, 4,000 lb capacity. The dual direction tilt was to be pit installed for ease of vehicle positioning and removal therefore the lift function is equipped with 4 sided 30 degree beveled toe guards for additional operator safety. The 460/3/60 power unit provides a double acting hydraulic system and features counterbalanced valves to ensure smooth safe operation throughout the operating range.
