Vertical storing dock levelers are often used in temperature or environmentally controlled applications.

Like the name implies this model of hydraulic dock leveler stores in the vertical position completely inside the building behind the closed overhead door.

Closing the overhead door in front of the dock leveler as opposed to conventionally closing the overhead door on top of the dock leveler permits the overhead door to seal better in the closed position. A better sealed overhead door minimizes both energy loss at the loading dock and also minimizes vermin entry into the building.

With a truck in position and the overhead door open the vertical storing dock leveler deck assembly is lowered and the extended lip makes contact with the truck bed. With the dock leveler in position the truck is now loaded/unloaded.

With the dock leveler in position there is a full width open gap between the underside of the dock leveler deck and the floor of the dock leveler pit. This gap permits exterior cold air and vermin to enter the building when the dock leveler is in the operating position.

Installing the optional bottom curtain on the underside of the dock leveler deck seals the full width gap between the bottom of the dock leveler deck and the floor of the dock leveler pit minimizing energy loss and also minimizing potential vermin entry.
