Dock lifts are a scissor lift design that is most commonly used to load or unload trucks from the truck bed height to grade level. Dock lifts can be ordered to suit either a surface installation or a preformed recessed pit installation.

Surface Installed Dock Lifts

Pentalift Low Profile Dock Lifts are installed directly on a concrete slab. Installing a dock lift on a concrete slab eliminates the need for a preformed, recessed pit. For retrofit applications, the cost of creating a pit can be substantial.

Low profile dock lifts are surface installed and are equipped with a hinged approach ramp to enable pallet truck access from grade level to the dock lift platform.

Pentalift Low Profile Dock Lifts are available with:

  • Platform sizes: 6’ wide x 8’ long or 8’ wide x 10’ long
  • Lifting capacities: 5,000 lbs., 6,000 lbs., or 8,000 lbs.

Pit Installed Dock Lifts

The alternative to a surface installation is Pentalift’s HED Series of pit installed dock lifts.

Pit installed dock lifts are available in a wider range of platform sizes, offer higher lifting capacities, and include many options not available on surface installed dock lifts. With a pit type installation, the lift platform lowers to be level with the driveway or installation surface, avoiding the need to move the load up an inclined ramp onto the lift platform.

Pit installed dock lifts are the most versatile dock lifts available, with:

  • Platform sizes: 4’ wide x 7’ long up to 8’ wide x 12’ long
  • Lifting capacities: 4,000 lbs. to 20,000 lbs.
