Operator safety is the primary concern for any lift table equipped with a rotating top that is installed into a recessed, pre-formed pit.
First the lift table sub platform must be equipped with either beveled, tapered toe guards or electric toe sensors on the platform to prevent any potential pinch point from contacting the operator’s feet as the platform lowers into the recessed pit.
Second to avoid any chance of lowering the underside of a partially off centered rotating top onto the top of the operator’s foot the rotating top must be in the home position before platform lowering can begin.
To confirm the rotating top is in the home position before lowering can begin an electric limit switch is installed on the sub platform. With the rotating top in the home position the limit switch is in the closed circuit position.
When the operator activates the down button the electric signal travels through the closed home position limit switch to the lowering valve; the lowering valve opens and the platform begins to lower.
If the rotating top is in any position other than the home position the electric limit switch prevents the platform from lowering. In other words the rotating top is electrically interlocked so it must be “square” with the lift table sub platform before the lift table will begin to lower.
