The standard PS200 dock seal consists of two 120” high side pads and a 24” drop curtain. There are 4 models of drop curtains to choose from.

The most popular model of drop curtain specified is the PS200A adjustable head curtain. This model of head curtain gives the dock attendant the ability to easily raise and lower the head curtain using a combination of ropes and pulleys. At an empty loading dock the adjustable head curtain should always be stored in the fully raised position and when a truck is backed into position the dock attendant then lowers the head curtain onto the top of the truck creating the top seal. The lowest cost option is the PS200 fixed head curtain; as the name suggests this head curtain is fixed in position with no height adjustability. With a truck backed into position if the top of the truck body is lower than the bottom of the fixed head curtain this will create a gap between the top of the truck body and the bottom of the fixed head curtain allowing energy loss.

The Pentaswing head curtain is often used with a fixed head curtain or with an adjustable head curtain that has been “tied off” and remains at a consistent height. There are 3 sections to this design of head curtain that are held together with Velcro strips; the center section between the 2 vertical side pads has a set of ropes and pulleys. With a higher truck backed into position the head curtain can project down into the top opening of the truck body creating an upper obstruction when loading. Pulling the ropes breaks the Velcro grip and center section of the head curtain is now pulled back, up and out of the way. Swinging the center section of the head curtain back, up and out of the way eliminates potential damage caused by the top of the lift truck mast assembly making contact with and tearing the head curtain during loading.

The PS200 foam head curtain option has a section of covered foam that is 18” high, projects 4” and is the width between the side pads, this section of covered foam is sewn directly to the head curtain. The 4” foam compression feature provides a more effective seal against the top of the truck body when the truck is backed into position.
