Vertical storing dock levelers are most commonly installed in a continuous width pit.

A continuous width pit creates a ledge between the upper finished floor level and the lower floor of the pit that the dock attendant would have to step down and the walk towards the wall to operate the dock leveler.

To avoid the dock attendant having to step down the ledge and walk towards the wall to operate the dock leveler the dock leveler controls and power unit can be ordered with an optional floor installed stanchion.

Typically the stanchion is installed on the lower pit floor level tight to the face of the ledge adjacent to the vertical storing dock leveler or alternatively it can be installed on the face of the ledge adjacent to the vertical storing dock leveler. The stanchion is typically installed to the left of the vertical storing dock leveler platform when looking towards the overhead door.

When installing allow sufficient space between the vertical stanchion posts and the raised dock leveler deck to avoid potential pinch points.

The stanchion is provided with both the control panel and the power unit already bolted into position and the stanchion also includes an operator work shelf.
