A Lift & Tilt Lift Table raises a load and tilts it, typically up to 45 degrees, to improve operator access, positioning, and ergonomics. The lifting and tilting functions are controlled independently using their respective controls.
An Upender changes the orientation of a load through a 90-degree reorientation, allowing the load to be positioned on its side for improved access, handling, or processing.

What Is a Lift and Tilt Table?

- Loading and unloading containers or bins

For example, a container holding components can be raised and tilted toward an operator. This brings the material closer and can reduce the need for repetitive reaching into a deep container.
The primary purpose of a lift and tilt table is to position the load at a more ergonomic working height and angle.
What Is an Upender ?
An upender lift table is designed to change the orientation of a load from horizontal to vertical, or vice-versa, typically through a rotational movement of the platform.
Unlike a lift and tilt table, which is primarily used to angle a load for improved operator access, an upender changes the working orientation of the entire load. This can make previously inaccessible surfaces available for assembly, welding, inspection, processing, or maintenance.
Upenders are particularly useful when large or heavy products need to be repositioned without relying on forklifts, overhead cranes, or manual handling.
Common applications include:
1. Coil and Roll Handling
Upender Lift Tables are commonly used to change the orientation of coils and rolls from horizontal to vertical, or vice versa. This 90-degree reorientation can simplify storage, processing, transportation, and material transfer.
2. Die and Mold Handling
Heavy dies, molds, and tooling can be difficult and hazardous to reposition manually. An Upender Lift Table provides 90-degree reorientation, allowing these loads to be safely positioned for manufacturing, maintenance, storage, or transfer.
3. Pallet and Load Reorientation
Upenders can reorient palletized, crated, or other heavy loads when a change in orientation is required. This can streamline material transfers between handling, production, storage, and processing operations.
4. Palletizing and Depalletizing
Upenders can reorient coils, rolls, barrels, pallets, and other loads into the position required for palletizing or depalletizing. This can improve material flow while reducing manual tipping and repositioning of heavy loads.
What Is the Difference Between a Lift and Tilt Table and an Upender?
The key difference is how the load needs to be positioned.
If the load needs to be raised and angled toward the operator, a lift and tilt table may be the best solution.
If the load needs to be repositioned from horizontal to vertical through a controlled 90-degree movement, an upender is generally the more appropriate solution.
