How To Boost Loading Dock Safety And Productivity
November 12, 2015, 9:30 am - When it comes to the material transfer zone, otherwise known by the acronym MTZ, one very important component is the loading dock. This goes from the drive approach and moves into the area intended for staging, receiving and shipping. The reason it’s important to pay particular attention to the MTZ is that it will help […]
Pentalift’s PentaFlow Hydraulic Cylinder
November 8, 2015, 9:43 am - The hydraulic cylinder is the primary component of any hydraulic lift system. Pentalift's exclusive PentaFlow cylinder design ensures long cylinder life, reduces maintenance, and eliminates oil spills. The PentaFlow cylinder is completely sealed from the surrounding atmosphere and all components are continuously bathed in fresh oil. Contamination and deterioration of the cylinder cannot occur. When the cylinder reaches full extension, the bypass valve opens and allows oil to flow through the piston to the rod side of the cylinder, out the port, and back to the reservoir. This prevents the cylinder from dead ending and building high stresses in the cylinder, equipment structure, and hydraulic system. Air in the cylinder is automatically ejected through the bypass valve. The need for manual bleeding which often results in oil spills is eliminated. 7 Traits To Look For In A Manufacturing Engineer
November 3, 2015, 9:00 am - Skills in processes, materials, measurements, methodologies, and machinery are important for successful manufacturing engineers to have. A highly technical job, manufacturing engineers are responsible for fine-tuning production efficiency and reducing expenses as much as they can. Since manufacturing engineers fills an important role, it’s important that companies make an intelligent decision so as to find […]
How Do Dock Lift Manufacturers Achieve an Acceptable Lift Speed of 10-12 Feet per Minute (FPM)?
October 31, 2015, 7:52 am - The required lifting capacity of the dock lift determines the diameter and stroke of the hydraulic cylinders, and the number cylinders to be used. Once the cylinder requirements have been determined, then it simply becomes a matter of the volume of hydraulic oil that is pumped into the cylinders, more volume = faster lift times. Think of it this way; if it takes 2 minutes to fill a bucket with water using one garden hose and you want to fill it faster, add a second hose to the bucket. It will now fill in 1 minute. Back to dock lifts, to fill the lift cylinders more quickly, the power unit's hydraulic pump size is increased to push a higher volume oil. The horse power of the motor often needs to be increased to turn the bigger pump. Contact your Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.
