How To Choose Between Mechanical And Hydraulic Dock Levelers
February 29, 2016, 10:00 am - Choosing the right dock leveler can be difficult. The first question you must ask yourself is whether you’re looking for a mechanical or hydraulic dock leveler. Both options have their pros and cons. This article will help you understand whether a mechanical or hydraulic dock leveler is best suited for you and your needs. Source:directindustry.com […]
Can you interlock equipment at the loading dock area?
February 24, 2016, 3:29 pm - Interlocking dock equipment is becoming more common than ever. Interlocking the equipment improves safety at the loading dock area and also reduces potential for loading dock area equipment damage. First let’s identify some of the equipment that is commonly interlocked…usually equipment such as hydraulic dock levelers, vehicle restraints, overhead doors and inflatable dock seals. For […]
What surface finishes are available for lift tables?
February 17, 2016, 3:31 pm - Lift tables can be ordered with many different surface finishes. The selected finish is based on the application requirements. If a lift table is used in an industrial setting for positioning or in an ergonomic application then standard enamel paint finish is usually acceptable. Upgrading to epoxy paint finish provides optimum protection against abrasion, corrosive fluids, extreme temperature and impact. Pentalift's standard paint color is gray, however you can upgrade to any desired custom color. Lift tables can also be galvanized for use in wash down applications or even manufactured from 100% stainless steel for use in the “direct contact” food processing industry. When the overall design parameters have been finalized then the Sales Representative can suggest the most suitable finish for the application. Are Edge of Docks mechanically or hydraulically operated?
February 10, 2016, 10:43 am - The Edge of Docks, commonly referred to as EOD’s, are offered both in a mechanically operated version, the EDML, and in a hydraulically operated version, the EHD. The EDML mechanical version is supplied with an actuating bar that the dock attendant uses to raise and position the EOD on the truck bed for loading to begin. There are loading dock applications that have a specific requirement for equipment that is physically easy for the operator to use, in this case a hydraulic version is available, the EHD. One push button station controls all of the operations of the EHD. EOD’s are available in 4 different deck widths (66” wide and 72” wide are the 2 most common) and there are 3 capacities to select from 20,000 lb, - 25,000 lb, and 30,000 lb. Edge of Docks are a cost effective and safe alternative to a portable dock plate at the loading dock area. Contact your Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.
What is a dual design lift table?
February 3, 2016, 3:44 pm - Some applications call for an extremely wide platform with a relatively short platform length. If you turn a conventional lift table sideways and roll the load perpendicular to the scissor legs as opposed to rolling the load parallel with the scissor legs, the edge load capacity is down rated significantly. The answer is to design a dual lift table. A dual lift table design lift combines two sets of scissor legs, two sets of cylinders and two frames and positions them side by side under a common wide platform. One hydraulic power unit with a junction block will control the raising and lowering of the common platform. Using this dual width design you can achieve a wide but relatively short lift table and still have the maximum edge load rating. Contact your Pentalift Sales Representative for additional information.
