Inflatable dock seals are becoming more common at loading dock installations. Conventional dock seals act as a gasket to seal the truck to the building. The compression force from the truck backing into position passes through the seals and into the building wall. Inflatable dock seals do not transfer any forces to the building walls. When the truck is backed into position the seal is then inflated, the side pads and head pad expand and form a gasket contoured to the shape of the trailer. This design not only eliminates any pressure on the building walls, it also contours to a wider range of trucks, even a truck that is not backed in square to the dock.
