The bellows are not mandated for use on Industrial Scissor Lifts per ANSI Standards MH29.1:2012. This standard is titled "Safety Standards for Industrial Scissor Lifts" and is published by LIFT, the lift table member group of Material Handling Institute (MHI). It is important to note that the bellows are designed to prevent debris entry, are not considered a safety element because they are flexible, and are a user preference option only. Some manufacturing plants have a corporate mandate that all lift tables are to be equipped with accordion bellows, this is a purely voluntary decision made by Ford. October 16, 2015, 10:59 am - The rule of thumb that most manufacturers recommend for a Dock Lift's lifting speed is 10 to 12 feet per minute. The majority of dock lifts have a vertical lift of 5’, so 10-12 fpm equates to approximately 25 to 30 second lift time. This would be the average speed requested for most applications. Pentalift can offer increased or reduced lift speeds by manipulating the flow of oil, adjusting the horse power or the pump on the associated power unit. The maximum lift speed that Pentalift offers on lift equipment is 30 feet per minute. Contact your Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.
