May 26, 2016, 4:05 pm - Hydraulic Dock Levelers use a push button control to operate the dock leveler. When the button is pushed, an electric motor starts and a hydraulic cylinder is used to raise the platform. A second hydraulic cylinder extends the lip assembly. When the dock attendant releases the control button, the dock leveler automatically lowers into position on the truck bed. Air Powered Dock Levelers, though structurally the same, use a push button control station to operate a 115/1/60 pneumatic blower to inflate an air bladder. This in turn, raises the dock leveler platform. A mechanical assembly operates the hinged lip. Once the lip is actuated and fully extended, the dock attendant releases the control button and the dock leveler automatically lowers into position on the truck bed.Contact a Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.
May 13, 2016, 8:52 am - By default, the standard operator controls for lift table applications are constant pressure buttons on handheld pushbutton pendants. Pressure controls require the operator to constantly depress the control button to either raise or lower the lift table. Once the pressure on the control button is released, the vertical movement stops. This helps to ensure that the operator is in complete control of the lift table at all times.Pentalift can offer the option of moving to press and release controls only if there will be no riders on the lift table at any time. April 29, 2016, 10:32 am - A Velocity Fuse is a safety device that is added to the hydraulic system. It “locks” the downward travel in a free-fall situation, which occurs due to a hydraulic system failure, other than on the cylinders of the lift table. The Velocity Fuse monitors the flow rate of the hydraulic fluid out of the cylinder and “locks” if it exceeds the allowable rate. For lighter loads, a flow rate high enough to “lock” may not develop. In these cases, the downward travel will be at a controlled speed.Contact your Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.
