July 15, 2016, 1:48 pm - Pentalift lift tables can have additional options included that will permit use as a work platform , or for riders to travel with the load. When there will be personnel riding on the table it must be equipped with guard rails on all sides that are not used for loading and unloading, and gates or chains for any side used for loading and unloading. Pentalift also recommends moving to checker plate on platform where there will be riders. If preferred, Pentalift can offer an anti-slip grit that is imbedded in the paint, but this grit will wear with traffic. Any tables where there are riders must have constant pressure controls…press and release controls are not permitted when there are riders. Finally, any application where there will personnel on or around the table must be reviewed for any potential pinch or shear points. Contact your Pentalift Sales Representative for more information.
July 7, 2016, 2:28 pm - Only if you are using a lift truck on your dock lift would you require an Automatic Hydraulic Roll-Off-Stop. When the dock lift is in the lowered, closed position, the roll-off-stop is flat. The lift truck drives across the roll-off-stop onto the platform. When the "up" button is activated, the roll-off-stop is powered into the vertical position before the dock lift begins to rise. When the dock lift is in the raised position, the lift truck drives onto the delivery truck. When the lift truck backs out of the truck, the roll-off-stop prevents the lift truck from accidentally driving off the dock lift and falling to the lower level. June 30, 2016, 2:19 pm - For many applications, the customer may wish to include some method of enclosing the scissor legs. This is to discourage personnel entry beneath the table and to prevent debris from collecting under the equipment. The most common customer choice is a set of Accordion Bellows. Accordion Bellows are a steel, reinforced vinyl barrier which expands and contracts with the movement of the table. Accordion Bellows work well when the travel does not exceed 10ft. Once the lift table needs to travel greater than 120”, the Accordion Bellows become too heavy to support their own weight, and will begin to prematurely tear at the seams and connection points. June 24, 2016, 2:36 pm - In a word, many. As standard, most Dock Lift manufacturers offer a hand held push button control with an up and down button. The push button is attached to the power unit by an electrical cord. The control cord can vary in length.Retractable coil cords are very common. They are often 5’ long retracted and stretch up to 20’ long extended, providing the operator with increased mobility. Controls can be installed on a post on the platform or in a wall-installed control panel. The specific application dictates what is best. June 17, 2016, 8:16 am - They actually serve the exact same function. Some manufacturers refer to them as Elevating Docks and others refer to them as Dock Lifts. It is the same with the common terminology, hinged lips and hinged bridge plates as well as with safety trip bars and toe sensors, to name a couple of examples. Different words, same function.
