Accordion Bellows are yellow vinyl, reinforced with steel rods, and are intended to prevent debris entry under the lift table platform. The bellows are not mandated for use on Industrial Scissor Lifts per ANSI Standards MH29.1:2012. This standard is titled “Safety Standards for Industrial Scissor Lifts” and is published by LIFT, the lift table member group of Material Handling Institute (MHI). It is important to note that the bellows are designed to prevent debris entry, are not considered a safety element because they are flexible, and are a user preference option only. Some manufacturing plants have a corporate mandate that all lift tables are to be equipped with accordion bellows, this is a purely voluntary decision made by Ford.
